Work

As general rule, students from Scandinavian countries and from EU member states do not usually need a work permit for normal student jobs. Students from all other countries can only undertake paid employment if they have a work permit.

Application for a work permit must normally be submitted to the Danish Embassy or Consulate General in your home country before leaving for Denmark.

More information on work permits can be obtained from the Danish Immigration Service Udlændingestyrelsen.

Nordic countries

Citizens from the Nordic countries are exempt from applying for work permits when staying in Denmark. You should, however, bring the internordic document of change of address (internordiske flyttepapirer) and register at the municipal civil office National Registry (Folkeregistret) to get a personal registration number.
See www.hallonorden.org for more information.

EU/EEA countries

No work permit is required, regardless of the length of your stay. Consult your Campus Administrator if you have questions. See website: http://ec.europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/index_en.htm

Job Vacancies

If you are not a citizen of an EEA country (European Economic Area: The countries of the European Union plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), you are allowed as a student to work 15 hours. Please check details with the international office at the Campus.

Students from these countries do not, however, need a work permit in order to work in Denmark.

See EURES’ web site to get more information on jobs in Denmark as well as in other EEA countries www.eures.dk.

Studenterhjælpen (www.studenterhjaelpen.dk) is an agency which recruits students for jobs in companies.
